March 28, 2023 – Geospatial technology firm Kamma have today announced their new Path to Net Zero reporting for property funds and property managers. The solution draws on multiple sources of data to deliver a market-first: a 360° view on all emissions linked to property, including scope 1, 2, 3 and embodied carbon. The solution makes the business case for Net Zero with fully costed pathways that identify optimal routes based on fuel savings, costs, and level of carbon reduction.
Property is one of the worst performing sectors when it comes to decarbonisation, emissions have reduced by just around 17% since 1990. Inefficient homes take more energy to heat than is necessary and contribute 22% of UK emissions. With the UK government seeking to reduce energy use by 15% by 2030, regulatory pressure on the sector to decarbonise is growing.
Yet the drive to increase efficiency and reduce emissions is undermined by the poor quality of property address data. Kamma’s technology is designed to resolve some of the biggest challenges linked to the availability and accuracy of environmental property data, creating the most accurate profile of UK properties available. Recommendations and insights built on top of this data are supplied to prompt, challenge, inspire and support funds in the development of Net Zero strategy.
The approach moves beyond rudimentary EPC data that gives an incomplete and inaccurate view, Kamma’s data engine combines millions of data points to deliver a corrected, calibrated, and comprehensive view. This includes up to date cost and fuel saving data based on the current cost of energy, and emissions based on real-time carbon intensity factors. The report allows funds to:
Orla Shields, CEO, commented: “For too long inaccurate, inaccessible, and out of date property data has held back property funds. Net Zero ambitions are achievable, if powered with greater levels of insight. Our data engine can provide an optimised route to carbon neutrality for funds that want to get ahead of the legislation, bring down energy bills for tenants and provide truly green investment options for investors.”
