We are Kamma
Orla trained as a chartered accountant at Ernst & Young before moving to the Irish Central Bank to work on the recapitalisation of the Irish banking sector. Orla moved to London to manage a £650m infrastructure budget at the London 2012 Olympics and latterly worked as a Commercial Director of a number of top-tier digital agencies and media companies.
Orla’s personal passion is cycling, regularly competing in races including achieving a ranking of 34th in the 2017 UCI World Amateur Cycling Championships.
Gary has extensive engineering and product leadership experience at Yahoo! Geo-technologies, Nokia/HERE Maps, Ordnance Survey and was CTO of what3words. Gary holds RHCE (RedHat Certified Engineer) and FRGS (Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society) qualifications and still likes to write code.
When he’s not in the office, Gary works from anywhere with good espresso, free Wi-Fi and somewhere to charge his MacBook Pro. A bit of a map obsessive, Gary spends his spare time with his family, running the Mostly Maps blog, or tweeting about maps.
Chris spent eight years in Financial Services for companies such as Hatfield Philips International and CBRE, managing billions of pounds of Commercial Real Estate Mortgages on behalf of lenders and running client relationships. Specialising in modelling and reporting, Chris worked extensively on improving the Loan Servicing product to drive value for clients.
A sporting addict, outside of the office Chris can usually be found on the football pitch or on the sidelines supporting his beloved Man City.
Joe started his career at Kantar, the world’s largest data company, delivering marketing solutions to blue-chip clients. He moved to Corporate Development and then to APAC where he ran GTM strategy for new data products, generating a 9-figure revenue stream. In his most recent role, Joe built the growth function for a global entertainment brand, delivering ~600% revenue growth.
Joe’s extracurricular accolades are a triumph of enthusiasm over ability. He has an amateur boxing record of 1-1-0 and completed both the Sally Up challenge and a no-prep trail marathon, during the lockdown
Neil has an extensive background in working with data-driven products that solve real-world problems. With roots in both technical and commercial roles, he’s spent the last few years focusing on creating product strategy and vision for startups and big businesses alike, including recent roles at Rakuten and Experian.
In his spare time, he runs ultramarathons in an attempt to offset the inhuman amount of calories he consumes from eating and drinking with his family and friends at home and in restaurants.
Harry brings over eight years of experience in business development, focusing on sustainability centric tech startups. He excels in forging strategic partnerships and driving growth.
Outside of work, Harry enjoys wild camping with his three dogs, spending time with his daughter, and playing amateur chess.
Thierry previously worked as a senior people flow and crowd consultant in a large building engineering firm. Using data-driven and user-centred approaches, he then transitioned to a product management role, supporting the development of data visualization and modelling dashboards. He worked with General Electric, Vodafone property managers, Heathrow airport, UK Theatres Trust, and New York High Line. During the summer of 2020, he worked with UK Universities to test social distancing strategies.
In his spare time, Thierry created and launched a board game named Koala & Wine.
Ben started his career as a web developer intern and rapidly worked his way up to Senior Software Developer at the University of Lincoln Students’ Union. Ben led the technical management of the SUMS platform, working with clients, managing junior developers, and building an award-winning platform, specialising in PHP, MySQL, Vagrant, Restful APIs and Javascript amongst others.
Although everything computing is Ben’s real passion, he’ll often be found skiing down the French pistes. Ben also loves hiking, games and is a dab hand on a pub quiz.
Liam is an experienced QA professional with a broad background spanning multiple sectors. He thrives on problem-solving and embraces the challenges that come with software testing.
Over the years, Liam has developed expertise in a wide range of testing frameworks, methodologies, and techniques, enabling him to deliver robust and reliable solutions. Outside of work, Liam enjoys staying active by playing and watching sports or embarking on long walks with his dog, Oreo.
James graduated in Computing Science and went on to start his career with several roles as a web developer in the marketing industry, working with clients such as Barclays, Pret a Manger and Aviva. He then went on to work in roles developing SaaS products, most recently for the restaurant and hospitality sector. He loves using Laravel and working with data.
Outside of work James enjoys long walks around Norfolk, vegetarian cooking and pushing his capabilities with various DIY projects.
Philip has many years of experience in web development. His favourite tech stack is Laravel + Vue. He enjoys learning about the latest web technologies and trying them out on his side projects.
Apart from that he spends his spare time with his family, learning languages and going cycling.
In 2013, Andrew began his career as a Junior Back-end Developer. Since then he has worked on projects for clients and employers ranging from simple brochure sites to integral internal systems for a large, international company. In his previous position, he was promoted to lead a team of developers and make key architectural decisions. He primarily uses (and loves) Laravel and is an advocate for clean code and good architecture.
Andrew also loves music. He’s a musician who mainly plays the drums, but also guitar and bass. He enjoys going to live shows and festivals and has also previously toured around the UK and mainland Europe with bands of his own.
Shireen studied Accounting and Finance at Middlesex University and has worked in various accounting roles including Barnardos, (the largest children’s charity in the UK) where she worked as a Children’s services accountant and Burberry as a Management accountant for Middle East countries. Her favourite role was at Olam International: an agri-commerce business operating from seed to shelf in 71 countries, supplying food and industrial raw materials to over 13,800 customers worldwide where she started as an assistant accountant and progressed to management accountant.
Shireen likes to spend her spare time with my family and friends. She enjoys baking and is famous in her family for cookies. She also enjoys playing badminton and going for a run. Every year she takes part in the run to raise money for breast cancer.
Roisin has a BA in English Language and Linguistics and a Masters in Law. She started her career working in operations for an executive search firm before running her own web design business, giving her the freedom to travel and live in US and Canada.
When she’s not working, she loves to spend time with her family, heading to the gym for a Pilates class and creating new website templates for her business.
Roman has an MA in social innovation and entrepreneurship, having previously gained experience in several short-term roles at third sector organisations before coming to Kamma.
In his spare time, Roman enjoys being a film snob, pretending to get in shape, practising photography, and growing his own e-commerce venture in the slow fashion space.
Max moved to Sweden after leaving school where he focussed on learning Swedish and worked up to becoming a logistics manager. On return to England, he worked in schools for 7 years and completed a Maths degree with the Open University. He believes good data analysis is the foundation of good decision making at an institutional level.
To relax, he likes to read and swim in the sea.
Manish started his career as a Linux Systems Administrator building and supporting infrastructure/web applications for the UK public sector. He then made a shift to DevOps helping build a cloud based clinical imaging and video platform for patient assessments in clinal trials. Manish enjoys researching and working with automation tools to help deliver application services faster than traditional development process.
Outside of work Manish enjoys travelling and exploring different countries , enjoys playing football , cricket and golf and cooking up different recipes in the kitchen.
Sam studied Philosophy at the University of Warwick and learned the power of creative communications in the media industry before starting a career in marketing at Kamma
In his spare time, Sam can be found frequenting the BFI, playing classical guitar, spending far too much money on food, and producing music.
James studied Actuarial Sciences and Statistics in his undergraduate degree, and has worked across a number of industries applying his passion for mathematics. James joined Kamma following a Master’s degree in Statistics and Data Sciences and is excited about everything to do with modelling.
Outside of work, James enjoys film, weightlifting, reading and op shopping.
The Trav
Named in honour of one of our interns, The Trav is our team mascot, who is awarded to a team member who goes above and beyond and really lives our company values.
As a llama, The Trav doesn’t get out much but likes to sit on people’s desks and doesn’t take up much room.
