NRLA partner with tech firm Kamma to support landlords with rising demands of PRS licensing

  • NRLA turn to technological solution to the challenge of increasing landlord legislation, variable local laws, and rising enforcement
  • Partnership means all member landlords will be able to access live licensing updates
  • New arrangements will ensure NRLA members benefit from an enhanced advice line service powered by real time property data

October 04, 2021 – The UK’s largest membership organisation for private landlords, the National Residential Landlords Association (NRLA), has reached a partnership agreement with leading geospatial tech company Kamma to assist their members with regulatory compliance.

This partnership will offer all the NRLA’s 90,000 plus members access to instant and accurate licensing information. All NRLA members can now take advantage of the NRLA Licensing Support Service, allowing them free access to Kamma’s Licensing 365 platform. This system will give users the opportunity to receive 24/7 data-driven licensing compliance monitoring from Kamma.

This service also means that the NRLA’s advice line team can conduct a postcode search in our new search engine to be able to inform landlords whether there are particular licensing requirements in their area.

Lastly, Kamma’s licensing application service will significantly reduce the amount of time NRLA members typically spend gathering information and background for local authority licence applications.

With recent research by both Kamma and the NRLA revealing an upsurge in enforcement and average landlord fines of £3,929, as well as the uneven application of licensing rules across England and Wales, this partnership will help landlords to get to grips with their extensive obligations in this area.

Kamma CEO, Orla Shields commented: “We know from experience that the complexity of local regulations can often be a barrier to compliance. By partnering with the NRLA we’re able to provide immediate answers to member questions through the NRLA advice line and continuous monitoring of their properties through the Kamma Licensing 365 platform. We know that a significant proportion of non-compliance is due to the difficulty of well-intentioned landlords not knowing what laws apply to their local area. Kamma’s partnership with the NRLA can help more landlords comply with local regulations and help make sure council enforcement resources are focused on the real rogue landlords that damage both the reputation of the sector and tenant welfare.”

Ben Beadle, Chief Executive of the National Residential Landlords Association, said: We are delighted to announce our partnership with Kamma, which will give our members in England and Wales the ability to navigate the all-too complex world of licensing, by providing cutting-edge guidance in a convenient, easy-to-access way as part of their NRLA membership.”
